Jean-Jacques Szczeciniarz
Jean-Jacques Szczeciniarz is a mathematician and philosopher of science, Professor at the University of Paris Diderot, known in particular for his work on the foundations of mathematics and mathematical physics. His studies on the work of Copernicus were published in his book Copernic et la révolution copernicienne (GF, 1998). His research on the underlying structures of the concept of proof was the subject of the book Le concept de preuve à la lumière de l’IA (PUF, 1999).
As a mathematical philosopher, he has engaged in research in algebraic geometry and category theory. He has co-authored papers in pure mathematics, co-organized a seminar on Grothendieck (Lectures grothendieckiennes, ed. Spartacus, 2022), and co-organized a 2022 colloquium on Grothendieck at Chapman University (California). Deeply inspired by the work of Roger Penrose, he has published and co-authored major papers on this great thinker and scientist.
He was awarded the Grand Prix of the Académie des Sciences in 2015.
